Carbon’s Morgan Warburton rises high above the net to reject an Emery spiker. The Lady Dinos crushed Emery in three games at home.

In a dual matchup last week, Carbon High’s volleyball and football team hosted rivals Emery High for intense, late-season competition.
The volleyball match took place on Oct. 9 and was followed by the football game on Oct. 10.
The lady volleyball team made quick work of the Emery Spartans, winning the first three games.
The final scores were 25-10, 25-22 and 25-23.
“In the second game we struggled. We keep having too many unforced errors,” Coach Bruce Bean commented. “But when we’re on, I’d hate to play us at state. We could compete with any team.”
The next night, it was the boys’ turn to try and take one away from the Spartans.
The game came down to extra points; Emery was successful while Carbon failed to convert.
Emery started things off with a touchdown and extra point in the first quarter.
Carbon looked as though they would head for the locker room with a 7-0 deficit.
However, in the final play of the half, quarterback Daniel Davis made a short pass to wide receiver Solomon White for a touchdown with no time on the clock.
The extra point was blocked.
Emery scored again in the third quarter and had a successful point after.
Carbon struck back with a Julian Montoya touchdown run for 12 yards.
But, the two-point conversion was unsuccessful.
Emery defeated the Dinos 14-12.
The loss will most likely eliminate Carbon from the state tournament which begins on Oct. 31.
Carbon volleyball, however, looks to be in good position as the end of the season nears.
The Lady Dinos have three regular season matches remaining, two of which are region eight.
Bean projects the team will take second place in the region.
The volleyball state tournament will begin on Oct. 31 at Utah Valley State College.
