Glenna Oveson
Together again
PLEASANT GROVE – After a short separation of less than two months, Glenna Taylor Oveson, 84 of Pleasant Grove, was reunited with her eternal companion, Maron, Wednesday, March 12, 2003.
Glenna was born in Orangeville to George Lee and Francis Woodward Taylor on Aug. 13, 1918. She was the third child in a family of five children.
She grew up in Orangeville and attended school there and in Castle Dale. She met her sweetheart, Maron Oveson, while in high school and they were married Feb. 24, 1939 in the Manti LDS Temple.
Glenna and Maron lived in Price after spending two years in Washington state during WWII. While in Price, Glenna enjoyed her family and friends and loved the Lions Club as much as her husband did. Together, they traveled all over the U.S. making friends and supporting the ideals of the Lions Club.
After moving to Pleasant Grove, she enjoyed working at UP&L in American Fork, retiring with her husband in 1983 so they could enjoy life together.
Glenna loved getting dressed up and going to functions such as the Lions Club, Cadmus Club, Knife and Fork Club and dancing with Maron. She and Maron served a mission to the Provo LDS Temple until ill health came to Maron. She held many positions in the LDS Church and especially enjoyed her callings in the Young Women and Relief Society.
She is survived by her son, Craig (Paulette) Oveson, Pleasant Grove; daughter, Lisa Dawn (Richard) Hill, Hurricane; five grandchildren, Paul (Lisa), Steven and Justin Oveson; Morgan and Jordan Hill; seven great-grandchildren, Amanda Trever, Amber, Brianne, Camberlee, Nitanne, Stevie; and her sister, Donna Lee Luke. She was preceded in death by her husband, Maron, on Jan. 13, 2003; her parents; sisters, Ardis and Dora; and brother, Bruce.
Funeral services will be Saturday, March 22, at 1 p.m. at the Battle Creek 8th LDS Ward Chapel, 1222 E. Nathaniel Drive (approximately 600 South), Pleasant Grove, where friends may call from 11 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. Funeral directors, Olpin Family Mortuary.
The family would like to express their appreciation to the many members of their ward who served unselfishly throughout the years and to the wonderful staff and owners of the Beehive Home in American Fork for their loving care of Maron and Glenna.
Alma Parry
PRICE/McGILL, Nev. – Alma Hayes Parry, age 82, died March 18, 2003 in Ely, Nev.
She was born Feb. 8, 1921 in Price to Monroe “Monty” and Cornelia Cunningham Hayes. Married William Arthur Parry in Price. Their marriage was later solemnized in the St. George LDS Temple.
Alma was as an active member of the LDS Church, where she was a member of the choir for many years in McGill.
She loved to crochet and embroidery.
Survived by her son, Allen (Ellie) Parry, Mobil, Ala.; daughter-in-law, Bernice Parry, Price; two sisters, Mickie (John) Hartzell, Price; Orgail (Ted) Fairborne, Salt Lake City; and numerous loving grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren who will miss her dearly. Preceded in death by her husband; son, Arthur Monroe Parry; daughter, Ginger Gleave; grandson, Jeffery Parry; brothers, Lawrence and Harold Hayes.
Funeral service Monday, March 24, 1 p.m., Mitchell Funeral Home. Family will be at Mitchell’s one hour prior to service. Interment, Price City Cemetery.
