Carbon Republican Convention – is scheduled April 22 from 6 to 8 p.m. in the commission room at the county courthouse.
Strengthening families workshop – is planned May 3 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Lighthouse Learning Center, 251 W. 400 North, Price. Activities will include educational presentations, continental breakfast, door prizes, games and entertainment. To register, contact April Durrant at 613-3145 or Zena Robinson.
Teen drug use prevention workshops for parents – Free five-week sessions are slated Mondays at 5 p.m. at East Carbon High beginning May 21 and Tuesdays at 4 p.m. at Lighthouse Learning Center starting May 22.
Rape crisis hotline – Rape or domestic violence victims in the Carbon-Emery County area may contact the local 24-hour crisis line toll-free at 1-866-894-8610.
Helper spring cleanup – City crews will pick up branches, shrubs and yard/garden debris through April 18 in east Helper and from April 21 to April 25 on Locust, Maple, Poplar and Main Street as well as south Highway 6.
Food handlers classes – Two-hour sessions will be offered May 14 at the health district in Price at 9 a.m., 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. Classes will be taught May 15 at the health department in Castle Dale at 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. Test fees required. For information, contact Claron Bjork at 637-3671.
Carbon County Food Bank – Hours of operation are Tuesday through Friday from noon until 4 p.m. For information on volunteering, donating or applying, contact manager Dondra Nance at 637-9232.
Parenting for teens – The Family Support and Children’s Justice Center in Price offers a free class dealing with the issues, problems and difficulties facing teen parents. Participants learn about available resources, assistance to return/remain in school, parenting/life skills, cooking and recreation opportunities. Contact Terry Willis at 637-0281.
Lifeline pregnancy assistance, support center – The facility offers free confidential pregnancy testing, verification, counseling and baby supplies. Residents may contact the center by calling the 24-hour telephone line at 636-0700.
Carbon County Humane Society – The non-profit organization offers monthly spay and neuter clinics at 98 North Carbon Avenue in Price. For information, call the humane society at 637-2908.
Carbon County Animal Shelter – AVID chip pet identification is available at the shelter. Hours are Monday to Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Saturday and Sunday, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Foster parents – The local DCFS office needs foster parents willing to work with teens and provide emergency shelter care. For information, contact Cindy Saccomanno at 636-0219.
Helper library – Hours are Monday through Wednesday from noon until 8 p.m.; Thursday from noon to 6 p.m.; Friday from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m.; closed Saturday and Sunday. Contact the library at 472-5601.
Price library – Hours are Monday through Thursday, 10 a.m. to 7:45 p.m.; Friday, 10 a.m. to 4:45 p.m.; Saturday, 11 a.m. to 3:45 p.m.; closed Sunday. Helper mining museum – From Oct. 1 to April 30, hours are Tuesday through Saturday, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. From May 1 to Sept. 30, hours are Monday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tours may be scheduled. For information, contact Helen Tonc at 472-3009.
Prehistoric museum – From April 1 to Oct. 31, hours are from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. From Nov. 1 to March 31, hours are Monday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily. Call the museum at 613-5060.
Infant immunization clinics – The health district in Price offers the clinics Monday through Friday from 3 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., Tuesday from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. and Thursday from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
ABC Learning Center – features movies Fridays at 7 p.m. The facility has books, computers and activities for adults and children. Hours are Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. For tutoring appointments, call the center at 888-2061.

CEU student art show – will be exhibited through April 30 at Gallery East. Hours are Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
CHS drill team dance – is planned April 26 at 7 p.m. at in the high school’s new gym.
CEU Ballet Repertory Ensemble – The schedule includes a classical dance concert April 24-26 and a contemporary dance performance April 25-28 at 7:30 p.m. at Geary Theater.

Helper Lions Easter egg hunt – is slated April 19 at 9 a.m. at Helper City Park. There will be prize eggs.
Carbon RSVP swap meet – is planned May 17 at the Price senior center parking lot. Proceeds will benefit RSVP. For booth reservations, contact the RSVP office at 637-9118.
