CEU sophomore Jeremy Atwater soars toward the net for a roll-in while a Westminster defender attempts to take a charge. The mens team defeated Westminster 77-61 in their second game of the season at the BDAC. The team also had a blow out victory over Hill Air Force Base.

College of Eastern Utah fans can look forward to a competitive 2003-2004 season of basketball.
Both the mens and womens team are off to a strong start with season opener wins.
The womens team travelled to Westminster on Nov. 1 to play the junior varisty squad.
The Golden Eagles shot 43 percent from the field and forced 38 Westminster turn-overs in the 66-42 win.
Kami Blackburn was the high scorer with 17 points. Cassie Warburton contributed another 11, including two three-pointers.
The Lady Eagles will host Westminster junior varsity in their home opener Nov. 11. The game begins at 6 p.m.
The mens team, meanwhile, had two wins over opponents Hill Air Force Base and Westminster.
The Eagles never let up in the 118-36 victory over Hill Air Force Base on Nov. 1.
Coach Bryan Zollinger said the early, non-conference games allow the team to see what needs to be worked on.
“With 24 conference games this year, there is not much room for error,” he commented.
In Tuesday’s game against Westminster, Zollinger said the team was working hard and the depth of the bench was a contributing factor to the 77-61 win.
“You’re not going to play perfectly at this point in the year,” he stated. “But, I’ve been pleased with the effort level.”
The mens team will host Clearfield this Saturday, Nov. 8 at the Bunnell-Dmitrich Athletic Center. Gametime is 7:30 p.m.
