L. Dean Jewkes


SALT LAKE CITY – L. Dean Jewkes went to be with his savior and redeemer on Oct. 30, 2003.
Dean was born in Salt Lake City on Jan. 31, 1943 to L. Kay Jewkes and Dora Deane Peterson. He was big brother to Carol Jean Austin and Karen Barker.
He loved and cherished his wife, Rita.
He and Rita spent as much time as they could on the Utah desert in their Jeep
He was a man who loved God and God’s word, the Bible.
He delighted in his children and grandchildren.
He will be missed by so many.
Dean was a faithful brother of Green River Bible Church, where services commenced Nov. 2 followed by burial in the Elgin Cemetery.
The family would like to thank the church family for all their love and support through Dean’s illness and all those who were there for us.
Dean is survived by his wife, Rita; children, Kirt Jewkes, Kristy Stephens and Kip Jewkes; stepchildren, Lynn Ekker, Ann Pickup and Larry Ekker Jr.; sons-in-law, Marshall Stephens and Marc Pickup; daughters-in-law, Pam Jewkes and Brenda Jewkes; and 11 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by first wife, Jacque MacKay Jewkes.


Pauline Strong


CASTLE DALE – Our beloved Pauline Annette Strong, 62 of Castle Dale, passed away from a sudden illness Nov. 4, 2003 in Price.
She was born May 24, 1941 in Bakersfield, Calif., to George Gilbert and Betty Ilene Kinkade McKenzie. She married Charles Ellison, later divorced. Then she married Robert Miller and later divorced. She then married Harold Strong in 1973 in Las Vegas, Nev.
Pauline will be remembered for her outstanding work in quilting and sewing as well as her love for golfing, outdoor sports, being out on the desert and taking care of her gardening. She especially loved her family.
She had participated in the name extraction program for the LDS Church for many years.
She is survived by husband, Harold Strong of Castle Dale; daughter, Collene (Daniel) Lyons; son, Gilbert “Gib” (Wylynn “Scubbie”) Miller, both of Huntington; stepchildren, Debbie Finn, Phoenix, Ariz.; Steven (Patty) Strong of Nampa, Idaho; five grandchildren, four step-grandchildren and one great-grandson. Pauline is also survived by mother, Betty McKenzie of Bakersfield; sister, Sue (Tom) McKenzie of Florida; and brother, David (Janet) McKenzie of Bakersfield. She was preceded in death by father; and sister, Holly Hudson.
A memorial service will be Saturday, Nov. 8, 1 p.m. at the Fausett Mortuary Chapel in Castle Dale. Interment will be private at her request.
