Carbon High teacher and coach Bruce Bean has been named 2003 3A Coach of the Year by the Utah High School Activities Association for his contributions to athletics and athletes. Coach Bean recently returned from the state volleyball tournament, where his team narrowly missed capturing the state title. According to the UHSAA, the award is designed to honor those whose contributions and service to high school activities have gone beyond the “second mile”. Bean was presented with the award at a luncheon at Willow Creek Country Club in Salt Lake City on Oct. 29. In addition to the volleyball team, Bean is also the head coach of ladies basketball at Carbon.
