The Castle Country Quilters gather each month at the Senior Citizen’s Center in Price to work on their quilts and share ideas and fellowship.
But once a year the group spends a day making quilts for charities. This year they are being donated to Newborns in Need as well as to sheriff’s vehicles in the county. The quilts are a variety of original designs and sizes.
The local nonprofit group is part of the Utah State Quilt Guild. One of the state-wide projects this spring has been to create thousands of “service flags” to honor service men and women. All the flags made locally will stay in Carbon and Emery counties. One flag is being given to every family that has a member serving in the local guard unit.
There are 43 members of the Castle Country Quilters. Mariella Potter serves as president while Peggy Atwood is the project chair. The group meets the third Thursday of each month.
