The Carbon High swim team started the season off with a splash. The team competed against Uintah and Union where the girls team found themselves ahead of the competition.
The Lady Dinos successfully captured their first victory of the year by scoring 171 points to defeat Uintah who scored 150 points and Union who finished with 79 points.
Heidi Miller led the way for the Dinos with two first place finishes. Miller successfully won the 200IM and the 100 free.
Heather Karren finished close behind with a first place finish in the 200 free and a second place finish in the 100 fly.
Lara Bringhurst competed strong for the Dinos as she compled the 100 breaststroke in second place.
Krista Viau had two third place finishes for the Dinos in the 100 fly and the 100 back.
Also competing strong for the Dinos was Rebecca Hall who placed third in the 500 free and fifth in the 100 breaststroke.
Audrey Oliver added to the ladies points by finishing the 50 free in third place and the 500 free in fifth place.
Amy Pulsipher placed fourth in both the 200 free and 500 free while Mikie Nelson finished in fourth place in both the 100 free and 100 breaststroke.
New Dino athlete Nikki Mortensen and Trisha Erickson each earned a sixth and seventh place finish to assist the Dinos in a team victory.
The Dino men’s team also competed strong in the opening meet of the season. The team earned 155 points for a second place finish behind Uintah who completed the tri-team meet with 222 points.
Chase Norton lead the Dinos with two second place finishes in the 50 free and the 500 free. Norton missed first place in the 500 free by only .06 seconds.
Logan Perez stepped up to compete strong for the Dinos by placing second in the 200 free and third in the 100 fly.
Kendrick Powell placed second in the 100 breaststroke and third in the 200 IM to assist the Dinos men’s team to their second place finish.
Also finishing strong for the Dinos was Dan Gibson who placed third in the 500 free and fourth in the 200 free.
Korea native Paul Jung placed fourth in both the 50 and 500 frees offering his hand in the Dinos team totals.
Cliff Sorensen placed fourth in the 100 fly and fifth in the 100 breaststroke while Matt Petty placed fourth in the 100 back and fifth in the 200 free.
Bradlee Leonard finished the 200 IM in fourth place and the 100 free in sixth place.
Matthias Barth, a native of Brazil placed seventh in both the 100 free and breaststroke while new Dino swimmer Derrick Leonard placed seventh in the 50 free.
The Dinos successful meet kicked off a season which is sure to be competative for the talented Carbon team.
