Brittany Pollastro goes head-to-head with a Lehi Pioneer during Tuesday’s Region 8 game. After racking up their eighth straight win, the Dinos received the Region 8 championship trophy and celebrated with excited Dino fans.

The Lady Dinos have cruised to a Region 8 title this year by defeating every region player they have faced. The final victim on the Dinos list was Lehi who was handed a 15-6, 15-8 loss Tuesday evening on Carbon’s home court.
The victory was the eighth straight win of the season for the Dinos who remain undefeated this year. Because of their incredible record, the Dinos captured the Region 8 title on the road at North Sanpete two weeks ago. The trophy was handed out however at the Lehi game as the ladies celebrated with their classmates, parents and volleyball fans.
Despite winning the region title, the Dinos stepped out on the court ready to play the Pioneers. Lehi has struggled this year and has failed to win a game this season. The Dinos didn’t let their guard down however as they competed strong against the struggling Region 8 team.
After several side-outs and a battle for control of the ball, the Dinos pulled ahead of Lehi and handed them a 15-6 loss in the first set.
The second set would find the Dinos making several mistakes, however the team bounced back to capture their second set victory 15-8.
“They didn’t play great, but they got the job done,” commented Dino’s head coach Bruce Bean. “We had already captured the region title at North Sanpete, and of course we wanted the win against Lehi, but the girls didn’t put their full effort into it. We are saving our best play for the state finals next week.”
The Dinos will begin their quest for a state title next Thursday afternoon at Utah Valley State College beginning at 5 p.m. The way things look now, Carbon will face either Judge or Wasatch in the first round of the state tourney, depending upon the outcome of the Region 10 season. Carbon will face the fourth ranked team in this region to open the state tourney.
