Kent Dyches


MT. PLEASANT – Kent (Heavy) Doyle Dyches, age 51, of Mt. Pleasant, passed away Mon. Oct. 7, 2002 after a valiant battle with cancer.
He was born Sept. 15, 1951 to Doyle and Mary Brotherson Dyches. He found his angel Jeanne Bliss two years ago. We are so very grateful for her loving care for him during his last years.
He loved the outdoors and being on his farm in Wales. He loved sports and being with his family.
He is survived by mother, Mary Brotherson Dyches Christensen; sister, Annette Merrill; daughter, Jennifer (Fred) Atkinson; sons, Russell Kent Dyches and Adam Kent Ashworth; grandchildren, Tanner and Waylen Atkinson; and the love of his life Jeanne Bliss. Kent was preceded in death by his father, Doyle and stepfather, Dale Christensen.
Funeral services will be Saturday, Oct. 12, 11 a.m., at the Mt. Pleasant LDS 4th Ward Chapel, 49 S. State Street. Friends may call Friday evening, 6 to 8 p.m. at the Magleby-Furner Mortuary, 96 N. 100 W., Mt. Pleasant, and Saturday, 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church prior to the services. Burial, Wales Town Cemetery.


Jerry Ryan Jr.


HELPER – Jerry Dee Ryan Jr., age 58, passed away Oct. 8, 2002 at his home in Helper.
He was born Jan. 6, 1944 in Florence, Ariz., to Jerry Dee Ryan Sr. and Emily Elizabeth Sanchez Ryan. Married Annette Taylor Moore Dec. 3, 1982.
He was a member of the LDS Church. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Vietnam War. He enjoyed being in the outdoors, hunting, fishing or taking pictures. He loved all kinds of music and could pick up an instrument and play it by ear.
He is survived by wife, Annette, Helper; children, Josalyn DeeAnn, Yvonne, Anne, Jerry Dee III, Matthew and Kelley and mother-in-law, LeeOra Taylor; brothers, Dennis, Ronald; and sisters, Sharon and Meleta. Preceded in death by parents; and one brother, Kenny; and stepfather, Kenneth C. Avery.
Graveside services will be Saturday, Oct. 12, 11 a.m., in the Evergreen Cemetery in Springville under the director of Fausett Mortuary in Price where friends may call Friday from noon to 5 p.m. for those who wish to sign the register.


Golda Hansen


PRICE – Our loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Golda Smith Olsen Hansen, age 88, passed away peacefully at her home Oct. 8, 2002.
She was born June 25, 1914 in Hiawatha to Frank E. and Julia Etta Ames Smith. Married Charles E. Olsen Sept. 12, 1930. He died July 22, 1952. Married Joseph Hansen Aug. 17, 1953. He died March 15, 1986.
Lifelong resident of Carbon County and an active member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church. Golda was very active throughout here life. She loved to crochet and make many beautiful things for her friends and family. She also took great pride in her home and family. She was a wonderful cook and no one ever left grandma’s home hungry.
Survived by seven children, Derl “Swede” (JoAnn) Olsen, East Carbon; Katy (Bill) Austin, Price; Darla (Harold) Hanna, Hotchkiss, Colo.; Lynn Foster, Wellington; Elaine (Royce) Allred, Cleveland; Terry (Leslie) Hansen, Spring Glen; daughter-in-law, Alice Olsen, Price; 22 grandchildren, 54 great-grandchildren, 22 great-great-grandchildren. Also her special companion, “Daisey” her dog. Preceded in death by parents; husbands; daughters, Gaylene and Bonnie Jean Olsen; son, Roland “Sonny” Olsen; grandson, David Olsen; brothers, Loren and Clarence; and sister, Nora Stifas. She will be dearly missed by her family and a community of friends.
Funeral service Friday, Oct. 11, 11 a.m., at Mitchell Funeral Home. Family will be at Mitchell’s one hour prior to services. Friends are welcome at Mitchell’s daily from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Interment, Price City cemetery.
