FERRON – Guyla Curtis Schlesinger, age 81, passed away in Ferron following a lengthy illness.
She was born March 8, 1921 to Guy and Ellawease Bradley Curtis in Huntington. She was raised in Emery County. Married Phillip Schlesinger Nov. 13, 1954 in Las Angeles, Calif. They were later divorced.
Guyla was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many callings. She was a temple worker and was most proud of her service as a missionary in the Rolland Oaks Virginia mission.
She enjoyed shopping, antiques, art, gardening and camping with the kids.
Guyla was small in stature, but had a tremendously large heart.
Survived by her children, David Brent (Elaine) Walters of Missouri, Robert Guy (Zaida) Schlesinger of Nampa, Idaho; Philip John (Kathleen) Schles-inger of Oregon; and Sarah Ella-wease King of Ogden; 17 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Also survived by her sisters, Anna C. Allred, Tessie B. Elfring; and brother, Jack Curtis. She was preceded in death by her parents; siblings, Emmadean C. Manzanares, Nedra Curtis, Betty Curtis, Bradley J. and William Guy Curtis.
Funeral services will be Friday, Dec. 6, at 10 a.m. at the Cleveland LDS Ward Chapel. Interment will follow in the Cleveland cemetery under the direction of Fausett Mortuary.
