Eagles split two in Idaho

The Golden Eagles from the College of Eastern Utah traveled to Idaho this past week to take on two Scenic West Athletic Conference teams Jan. 3 and 5.
The men opened up play by taking on the Ricks College Vikings. The Eagles improved their record to 12-3 with a 86-78 victory over the Vikings.
Leading scorer for the Eagles was Renaldo Knowles who finished with 19 points. Knowles also dished out two assists, stole three balls, pulled down three rebounds, and completed 2-6 three point shots.
Following Knowles in scoring was SWAC player of the week, Terrence Wiggins who completed the game with 15 points. Despite Wiggins ability to score several points, Wiggins also posts several rebounds.
In the game against the Vikings, Wiggins pulled down 10 rebounds, dished out two assists, and stole one ball.
The Eagles rested up for a day, then hit the hardwood floor to compete against SWAC team North Idaho.
The Eagles played strong despite shooting only 39 percent from the field. CEU did however shoot 68 percent from the free throw line and 40 percent in three point field goals.
The game was close, and the Eagles finished on the losing end of the scoreboard with a final score of 72-71.
Skyler Wilson lead the Eagles in scoring with 16 points. Wilson also pulled down five boards, blocked one ball, and completed 4-6 three point shots.
Patrick Stinnett finished the game with 13 points, three steals, and two rebounds for the Eagles.
Nick Whiting followed in scoring with 10 points, seven rebounds, and one assist despite the close loss to the Vikings.
The two game split means that the Eagles are currently averaging an 85 percent winning record in all games played, and 66 percent in conference games.
Despite spliting the two games played in Idaho, the Eagles will prepare to host Salt Lake Community College Jan. 11 at the BDAC at 8p.m. The Eagles plan to soar high at home as they compete against the Salt Lake SWAC rival team.
