Wal-Mart Super Center opens in Price

Karon Mills, Executive Director of the Carbon County Chamber of Commerce, along with City and Wal-Mart officials are pictured cutting the ribbon with store Manager Shane Miller of the new Wal-Mart Super Center that opened in east Price last week.

Wal-Mart opened its new Super Center in Price last Wednesday before a large group of city and government officials, community people and Wal-Mart officials.
Located just across the street from the former Wal-Mart the new facility marks a yearlong construction effort.
Leading the Grand Opening ceremonies was Shane Miller, local store manager.
Entertainment included the Pinnacle Gate Academy and members of the Carbon High School Cheerleaders. Price City Mayor Joe Piccolo welcomed the new store in opening comments.
Sharon Wilson, who heads the Wal-Mart Safety Team presented $12,500 in grants to local nonprofit and school organizations. Representatives from each of these groups were recognized and given checks for $500 and $1,000. Many of the groups, in appreciation of Wal-Mart’s support presented plaques and pictures to Wilson.
Among the recipients included United Way, CMN Primary Children’s Medical Center, Rural Utah Child Development, City of Helper Fire Department, Family Support and Advocacy Center, American Cancer Society, two boy Scout troups, a 4-H organization, and several schools. The local schools receiving grants included Carbon high School for their Boys Basketball program and Rodeo Club, as well as Huntington, Cleveland, Castle Heights, Castle Dale, Creekview, and Wellington Elementary Schools.
Miller recognized several Wal-Mart employees who were instrumental in the opening of the new store as well as long term employees who have been part of the Wal-Mart organization here in Price.
Bob Erickson, Regional Vice President of Wal-Mart concluded the ceremony with a congratulations to the employees and management of Wal-Mart and a thank you to the community for its encouragement and support.
