Bob Pero, county clerk and Alexis Horsley count provisional and absentee ballots on a vote counting machine last Tuesday, thereby finalizing the election that took place the week before. By law, all counties had to do their final count of those ballots and certify the elections results on Nov. 12. All in all there were 67 provisional ballots and two absentee ballots to be counted. Three ballots were disqualified because they were from people who were not registered. The only election that could have been affected locally by the votes was the school board election in district 2 between incumbent Samuel Chiara and challenger Debbi Blackburn. After Tuesday nights election, Blackburn led Chiara 535 to 524. After the certification count, with the additional ballots tallied, Blackburn won 542-529.
