Harold Nelson
WELLINGTON – Harold Wise Nelson, age 73 died Aug. 5, 2002 at his home.
He was born Aug. 28, 1928 in Delta to Lawrence and Maxine Cropper Nelson. Married Ruth Thayn on Nov. 24, 1963 in Elko, Nev.
Harold served his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
He was a resident of Wellington since 1977. He was a former employee of Kennecott Copper and later employed by Carbon County Road Department prior to retirement in 1993.
Harold will be dearly missed by his family and loving grandchildren.
Survived by wife, Ruth T. Nelson, Wellington; four sons, Jim H. (Robyn) Nelson, Wellington; Bret Nelson, Wellington; Scott (Terry) Nelson, Veneta Ore.; Mike Nelson, Price; three daughters, Linda (Arthur) Mc-Kinnon, Lindon; July (Robert) Darling, Price; Shanna (Philip) Larsen, Salem; one brother, Ralph Nelson, Salt Lake City; one sister, Cora (Kay) Jean, Salt Lake City; 28 wonderful grandchildren, and 37 great grandchildren. Preceded in death by his parents; son, Kevin Nelson; three brothers and one sister.
Graveside service, Friday Aug. 9, 11 a.m., Wellington City Cemetery. Family will be at Mitchell Funeral Home Thursday evening from 7 to 9 p.m., and Friday one hour prior to service.
Kenward McKinney
PRICE – Kenward Harris McKinney, 77, passed away at home in Price from heart problems on Aug. 6, 2002.
He was born May 25, 1925 in Sacramento, Calif., to Kenneth Gilmore and Edna Cox McKinney. Married Carol Richardson Dec. 24, 1947. Their marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple in 1952.
Ken grew up in Sacramento, Calif. He was a World War II veteran who served in the U.S. Coast Guard.
He graduated from BYU and had a long career as a geologist working as an engineer with water. His work took him to California, Pakistan, Utah, Florida and Maryland.
At the time of his passing, he was employed at CJ’s Do it center. Ken was active in the LDS church, holding numerous different positions wherever he lived.
Survived by wife and five children, Rynda (Pete) Christensen, Nashville, Tenn.; Dari (Norm) Davis, Springville, Va.; Debbie (Allen) Henrie, Price; Kenna (Jonathan) Onoman, Taylorsville; Bruce (Richelle), McKinney, Draper; 20 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by parents; and brothers, Stanley and Warren.
Funeral services will be Friday, Aug. 9, 11 a.m., at the Price 11th LDS Ward Chapel, 300 West 500 South. Friends and family may call one hour prior to services and Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Fausett Mortuary, 680 E. 100 South, Price. Interment, Cliffview Cemetery, Price.
In lieu of flowers, Ken asked that contributions be made to the Perpetual Education Fund of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
The family wishes to thank all who have helped so generously.
