The Dino football team prepares for battle by competing against one another during the annual blue and white game held last Friday evening. The game allows players and coaches to sort through the problems the team must correct before the regular season begins. The Dinos will start the season this Friday against Payson.

As the football season rapidly approaches, the Carbon High Dinos prepare by hosting practices and scrimmages to gear up for the upcoming competition.
Last Friday evening, the Dinos hosted the annual blue and white game. This was the first ever event held on the newly build Dino field. The game proved to be a success for all involved.
The game pits the Carbon team against one another allowing each athlete to compete. The game not only gives the players the much needed experience of competition, but it also allows the coaches to pinpoint key areas which need to be adjusted for the upcoming season.
The game concluded with both players and coaches walking away with valuable experience which will be needed as the season begins Friday night in Payson.
Although Carbon is not expected to be a front runner for the 3A state title, the Dinos just might surprise the high school athletic critics. The team is strong this year.
Jan Jorgensen will return this season as a senior. Jorgensen is expected to give the Dinos the leadership they are seeking as he steps up as quarterback. The second year starter at QB will look to experience as well as talent as he takes over the Dino squad.
Jamal Lewis is also expected to be a strong player for the Dinos this year. Lewis will compete as a running back, which best suits his athleticism.
The Dinos will be backed with strong athletes this year. Both the defensive and offensive lines are filled with strong players including Tyson O’Neil and Andrew Christensen. This strength will be vital to the Dino game plan.
Many changes have occurred to the Dino team since last season. The most notable change comes with new head coach Jeff Jorgensen.
Although Jorgensen has aided the team for the past several years as an assistant coach, he will take over as head coach filled with excitement. This excitement is bound to shine through the players who look forward to kicking the season into gear later this week.
The Dinos are scheduled to play their first home game of the season Aug. 30 as the team hosts Uintah.
