Thursday night was another great evening of basketball for the Lady Dinos, as they ripped apart the Lady Hawks of North Sanpete, 75-54.
The girls not only captured another region win, they also won their eighth consecutive game, and clinched the region title, winning it three years in a row, with one difference. This year, they don’t have to flip a coin or share it.
These past few games have been going very well for the Carbon girls; they have stepped up both offensively and defensively from the get-go.
In the first quarter, it seemed as though North Sanpete wasn’t going to score, as their offense failed time after time, while Carbon’s obviously didn’t, as they put up 20 points, compared to North Sanpete’s seven.
As with previous games, and as would be expected, the Lady Hawk’s coach changed up their plays a bit, allowing them to score 17, but still wasn’t enough to catch up, as they went into the locker room down 20 points, 44-24.
North Sanpete had higher hopes for the third quarter, hoping to turn the game around, but that thought soon left their minds as the Lady Dinos continued laying on the heat, doubling North Sanpete’s out put for that quarter, 16-8
Going into the final quarter, Carbon, ahead by 28, had several players in foul trouble, and had to end the game without Brittany Pollastro or Morgan Warburton.
As for the overall game, most everyone ho played, scored, rebounded, or contributed in some way to the victory.
Chelsey Warburton had a game-high 29 points along with 12 steals. Cassie Warburton came out with 16 points and 11 rebounds, while Lauren Reaveley, who had four rebounds, and Morgan Warburton, who had five assists, each had eight points.
The Lady Dinos, who are now 17-2 overall, and 7-0 in region, will play their last regular season game on Tuesday, Feb. 12 against Lehi, at home, at 7:00 p.m.
As of right now, Carbon will play the number four seed of Region 9, which is currently Canyon View, and will be played at home on Feb. 22.
