UPDATED: Police investigate booze and drug-fueled graduation bash involving 80 juveniles

Complaint leads cops to Circle K home, grad bash
Multiple law enforcement agencies responded to a disturbance call May 22 at a home in the Circle K subdivision south of Price where police discovered a booze and drug-fueled post graduation bash involving some 80 juveniles.
Carbon County Sheriff Jeff Wood put out not one, but two press releases on the matter last week.
Police arrived at the pricey home to discover multiple people in various stages of inebriation and multiple kids, ranging in age from 15 to 20 years of age attempting to flee the scene as officers approached.
Wood reported that the home owner was not present at the time of the party, yet an adult relative was present.
The adult present at the scene, reportedly a brother of the homeowner, was cited for contributing to the chaotic scene.
According to court records, David J. Platt, 47 and a tax preparer at H&R Block in Price, was cited for contributing to the delinquency of a minor, a Class B misdemeanor on May 25. Platt is scheduled to go before Justice Court Judge Jon Carpenter today at 1 p.m.
Police conducted multiple sobriety tests and cited anyone who was shown to have drugs, or, in the case of minors, alcohol in their systems.
Sheriff Woods said the adult lost control of the party after providing permission for a handful of young people to celebrate graduation at his home.
“The home owner was extremely upset to find his home in total disarray with vomit on the floors, broken furniture, people hiding in the closets, under beds, and in the attic. It should be known that the owner of the home was actually locked out of his own home upon his arrival and was going to allow law enforcement to enter by force prior to finding an open door in the garage to allow entry,” the press release states.
Parents of any juveniles caught with drugs or alcohol in their system were called to come pick up their kids.
“Parents were called to pick up their children and law enforcement stood by for most of the night to be sure no intoxicated juveniles returned to pick up their vehicles,” the press release states.
Any party-goers who tested clean were allowed to leave without interference.
People under 18 who were cited will appear before a juvenile court judge, while those over 18 who received citations will go before a Carbon Justice Court judge at a later date.
Wood said a large amount of marijuana, ecstasy tablets, amphetamine, and unknown crushed pills were found at the scene along with alcohol. One man was arrested after he was transported to Castleview Hospital. Wood said he became aggressive when officers found him splayed out in a laundry room, vomit all over the place.
Both of sheriff’s press releases communicated a level of disappointment at the juveniles and adults.
“I want to remind the juveniles involved in this incident that this type of behavior is illegal and comes with consequences that can last a lifetime. It is not something to be taken lightly and it is not responsible behavior,” the press release states.
Later he wrote: “In recent years the incidents of assaults, injuries, accidents, alcohol poisoning and sexual assault(s) stemming from the graduation parties have risen.”
Officers from Wellington, Price, and Utah Highway Patrol assisted Carbon County during the incident.
