Water Line Break

A water main break that left people in the Carbonville area and west of Highway 6 without water for up to three days has been repaired and water restored to all users.
Water was restored sometime between midnight and 2:30 a.m. April 19.
Jeff Richens, general manager at Price River Water Improvement District (PRWID), wanted to thank everyone for their support during the ordeal.
Richens cites two stories that depict the support. Late Tuesday night, when the wind was fierce, Richens said a young man, probably pre-teen, brought hot chocolate to the crew working on the break near the golf course.
Also, a resident in the area went around to homes, making sure everyone in her neighborhood had water, taking and filling jugs where necessary.
Not everyone was happy. Richens said he received complaints and there were some derogatory comments on social media.
Richens shrugs them off, noting you can never please everyone. “People need to realize water breaks are going to happen and the only thing we can do is make repairs as quickly as possible.”
Richens said he has no estimate of the cost, which will be substantial. A total will only be known once all the invoices are in.
However, by Monday morning PRWID started making regular updates via social media, letting people know what was happening.
Richens said they did everything they could to keep people in water, including placing a tank in Carbonville and providing bottled water to people.
Richens said the other entities did everything they could. The hospital was transferred to Price City water and Price City actually ran a fire hose from one side of Fairgrounds Road to the other, connecting fire hydrants as an attempt to get water to residents.
