Utah’s nonfarm payroll employment for July grew by 3.9 percent, adding 57,100 jobs to the economy since July 2017. Utah’s current employment level is 1,510,700.
July’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate increased one-tenth of a percentage point from the prior month to 3.1 percent. Approximately 48,700 Utahns were unemployed during the month and actively seeking work. The national unemployment rate decreased one-tenth of a percentage point to 3.9 percent.
“Fueled by robust economic conditions, the state added the highest number of jobs year-over for 2018 while maintaining a notably low unemployment rate,” reported Carrie Mayne, Chief Economist at the Department of Workforce Services.
