It’s not every day someone wins a Chuck Norris modified diesel truck. But, it was that day last week when Patrick “Pat” Bode, of Price, had his name drawn out of a hat containing 11 names and was declared the winner.
“Actually, I didn’t enter a lot of times,” explained Bode as he described getting an email from Maverik Inc. telling him that he had 100 points that he was going to lose if he didn’t spend them right away.
“I logged in to see what I could spend the points on and noticed a Chuck Norris truck giveaway,” said Bode. “And I put all the points into that drawing.”
Two weeks later Bode was notified that he was the first of eleven finalists that would be announced over the next 10 months and the waiting game began for Bode.
On Oct. 14, the eleven finalists were invited to the Ponderosa Camp Resort located east of Zion’s National Park to participate in the final drawing.
“We had a lot of fun down there spending a day on the shooting range as well as doing all kinds of other activities,” said Bode. The final drawing was held on Saturday night.
And Patrick Bode won.
“I was so excited. Even Jennifer (Patrick’s wife) couldn’t believe that I won,” said Bode. “Never in a million years did we think that we would win. To tell you the truth, I was just along for the ride and what a great ride this will be.”
The truck chosen by Chuck Norris for the promotion was the personal truck of Diesel Dave from the TV program Diesel Brothers on the Discovery Channel. It is a 2012 Chevy 2500 Diesel with all of the extras including the American Flag displayed on its sides.
The program showing the truck being refurbished by the Diesel Brothers aired last February and Patrick and Jennifer were invited to attend to see the unveiling of the truck. There were four finalists announced at that time and they got to see the truck and meet Chuck Norris.
Patrick is the safety director for Reed Hurst Trucking in Price.
“It is so surreal,” said Bode. “When I get in the truck and start driving it and have it parked in my yard – it will be awesome.”
